STATION ACTIVITIES
- Scientists of the station are involved in research works on various crops, extension activities like training programmes, seminars, exhibition etc.
- The scientists act as members in multi disciplinary diagnostic team of Department of Agriculture.
- Soil nutrient analysis is being done for farmers at the station.
- There is production and supply of bio-control agents.
- Trainings on mushroom production is periodicallly conducted at the station. There is also production and supply of mushroom to the public.
- Dairy is maintained at the station from where milk is being supplied to the public.
- There is a sales counter at the station from where, various seddlings and organic inputs are being supplied to the public.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS/ACTIVITIES
- Research work on the development of improved varieties of paddy, sesame, and pulses suitable for Onattukara.
- Maintenance of germplasm of the crops viz., paddy, pulses and sesame.
- Standardization of production technologies for AEU 3 for various crops viz. Paddy ,Sesame, Pulses etc.
- Management of emerging weeds in various crops for enhancing production.
- Standardization of plant protection technologies for various crops.
- Developing suitable soil nutrient management strategies for Onattukara region.
- Production of mushroom and mushroom spawn.
- Production of biocontrol agents, biofertilizers and organic inputs for sustaining production of various crops in Onattukara region.
- Crop and weather advisory services to farmers
- Production and distribution of elite coconut seedlings.
- Year-round production and distribution of seeds and planting materials.
